Angles: Common in contemporary homes, angled windows bring up some unique challenges in providing privacy and light control and keeping your home energy efficient. Hunter Douglas has taken on these challenges, offering you a wide selection of products that help to enhance the beauty of your angled windows whether the shade is open or closed. Angled windows come in many variations including right triangles, isosceles triangles and top/bottom sloped windows with specific minimums and maximums for each brand.

Arches: One of the most common types of specialty applications, arches add charm and character to your house but can also offer a particular set of challenges when it comes to privacy and light control. Window fashions from Hunter Douglas answer these challenges with a variety of different options, allowing for a broad range of light-filtering and privacy possibilities. Arches can come in many different sizes and go by many different names including stationary, extended, half circle, quarter circle, perfect, imperfect, eyebrow and Gothic.

The EasyView^® Arch from Duette^® honeycomb shades offers the added benefit of a moveable arch, giving you the opportunity to raise and lower the shade, for maximum light control.

Bridgeway™ specialty shapes help accentuate and enhance a window's distinctive shape while providing light control, mood control and energy efficiency. Available in 20 popular paint colors, Bridgeway specialty shapes coordinate with Country Woods^® wood blinds, Crosswinds^® wood vertical blinds, Chalet Woods^® wood blinds and the EverWood^® Collection of alternative wood blinds.

Architella: Provides a high level of energy efficiency with its innovative honeycomb-within-a-honeycomb design, reducing energy loss up to 50% at the window. New to Architella is the revolutionary IllumiCell—a clear inner cell that offers superior light transmission with the same energy savings as a fabric inner cell.

Bay and Corner Windows: Window treatments for bay windows and corner windows are usually standard rectangular window installations. Panels are independent of one another, and minimums and maximums apply to each panel. Virtually all Hunter Douglas brands offer a solution for covering your bay or corner window.

Bi-fold Track System: The Bi-Fold Track System, an option with each of our Shutter products, allows up to 6 panels to be hinged together. Panels are connected to a top track, which supports the panels and guides their folding movements.

Bridgeway® Specialty Shapes: Bridgeway^® specialty shapes, the newest addition to the Hunter Douglas Custom Shutter Collection, are designed for various arches eyebrow and circle windows. They accentuate and enhance a window's distinctive shape while providing light control, mood control and energy efficiency.

Revolutionary Design - Custom built to fit a full-range of perfect and imperfect specialty shapes.
Versatile - Coordinates with a wide variety of blinds and verticals, as well as other window fashions.
Exceptional Strength - Manufactured using advanced modern-day materials for strength, stability and straightness.

Brilliance® Privacy View: Brilliance^® pleated shades with the Privacy View option offer maximum light control by using two separate fabric panels to achieve a 'day/night' level of convenience and privacy.

By-pass Track System: With the Bypass Track System, an option with each of our Shutter products, shutter panels slide past each other on top tracks to open and close.

Chelsea™ Roller System: This system is found on Alustra Woven Textures^® roller shades; features brushed metallic brackets, clutch operation, beaded chain and a round bottom rail with end caps.

Circles, Ovals, Hexagons, Octagons:While unique window shapes such as circles, ovals, hexagons or octagons are not as common as other specialty window shapes, Hunter Douglas still offers you the opportunity to cover these unique window applications. Country Woods^®, Duette^® and Applause^® honeycomb shades and Brilliance^® pleated shades offer many versatile and durable options to help you cover even the most unusually shaped window.

Clutch Operated Continuous Loop: One of the most important advantages of Hunter Douglas window fashions over traditional soft window coverings are their ease of operation. A continuous loop, which works on the principle of a pulley, rotates a clutch to raise or lower the shade. From the fully raised position, pulling down on the front half of the loop lowers the shading. The covering is raised by pulling on the rear of the continuous loop.

Our EasyRise™ system, featured on Silhouette^® and Nantucket™ window shadings, Vignette^® Modern Roman Shades, Pirouette^® Window Shadings and Duette^® and Applause^® honeycomb shades, and Design Studio™ Roman Shades, provides the mechanical advantage needed to raise and lower large window fashions.
Our SoftGlide^® system, featured on Alustra Woven Textures^®, Designer Screen Roman Shades and Brilliance^® pleated shades is a clutch-operated, continuous cord system ideally suited for large windows and other difficult-to-lift applications.
The Dual Roller Shade option, found on Designer Roller Shades, allows you to pair two fabrics of varying opacities on one cassette for optimum light control and and intriguing layered effect.

Combination Wand/Cord control: Hunter Douglas products offering a Combination wand/cord provide a single control to traverse the fabric and rotate the vanes.

Cordless lifting system: The cordless lifting system, found on Designer Roller Shades, is a traditional spring-assist system to raise and lower large window coverings, providing enhanced child and pet safety.

Cordlock Operation: Hunter Douglas' original lifting system, products featuring cordlock operation provide a time-tested, quiet and reliable system.

The EPIC™ operating system, available on our Country Woods^® and Chalet Woods^® wood blinds and EverWood^® Alternative Wood Blinds, features new high performance material selections and component designs offering the most robust construction and improved performance.

Cut-outs: Cut-outs provide an opportunity to cover windows with unique architectural elements and are suggested for clearance around obstructions such as door handles, window cranks and window air conditioners. Country Woods^® horizontal wood blinds and horizontal alternative wood blinds offer bottom side and center cut-outs, with the latter two offering headrail cut-outs as well. Duette^® and Applause^® honeycomb shades offer bottom left or right side cut-outs. Heritance^® hardwood shutter cut-outs are specifically designed to provide clearance for French door handles.

Country Woods® Exposé™ Wood Cornices: Country Woods^® Exposé™ wood cornices are the perfect topper over any Hunter Douglas window fashion or a great accent over draperies. Each cornice is made of 100% domestic wood, and is hand-finished and hand-assembled by genuine craftsmen. Wood cornices are available in 6 profile styles in heights of 6", 9" and 12". The 6 profile styles are offered in all 46 Country Woods colors. They are also available as unfinished cornices.

Classics™ - Choose from 35 painted or stained Basswood finishes.
Select™ - Comprised of 3 Eastern White Pine finishes.
Genuine Woods - Created from the finest wood species, Oak and Cherry, in a range of stain finishes.
Unfinished Cornices - Available as unfinished Basswood, Pine, Oak or Cherry. You can paint or stain an unfinished cornice to any desired finish.

Daylighting: This is the practice of lighting rooms with natural light rather than generating illumination from electricity. With Hunter Douglas window fashions, you can control how much natural light comes into your room. Hunter Douglas sheers and other select styles actually diffuse light as it enters and help to draw it deeper into the room. You can also direct incoming light where it's needed most by titling the louvers, slats, vanes, blinds, and panels. By drawing natural light into a room many Hunter Douglas window treatments reduce your energy needs for other types of lighting.

Without energy-efficient window treatments, as much as 50% of a home's heating and cooling energy can be lost through its windows. All Hunter Douglas window fashions provide window insulation, offering your home increased protection against heat loss during the winter, as well as minimizing the sun's heat or "solar heat" during the summer.

Dual Roller Shade: This option, found on Designer Roller Shades, allows you to pair two fabrics of varying opacities on one cassette for optimum light control and and intriguing layered effect.

Duette EasyView® Arches:The EasyView^® arch uses a revolutionary design that allows you to raise and lower the shade, unlike the typical honeycomb fabric arch. In addition, the cellular fabric runs horizontally in an EasyView arch, matching that of the shades below or elsewhere in the room.

Duolite™ Privacy/Light Option: Available with Duette^® and Applause^® honeycomb shades, the Duolite™ feature offers maximum light control by using two separate fabric panels to achieve a 'day/night' level of convenience, providing limitless options for privacy and light control.

EasyRise: The EasyRise™ system, featured on Silhouette^® and Nantucket™ window shadings, Vignette^® Modern Roman Shades, Pirouette^® Window Shadings and Duette^® and Applause^® honeycomb shades, and Design Studio™ Roman Shades, provides the mechanical advantage needed to raise and lower large window fashions.

Faux blinds: This smart alternative to wood blinds has classic good looks that don't age. They are made from premium-grade, PVC-free slats. These blinds are ideal for heat and moisture areas because they are guaranteed against fading, yellowing, warping or bowing.

French Doors: While virtually any Hunter Douglas window fashion can be ordered to cover a French door, keep in mind that the product is typically mounted "outside" of the opening (beyond the glass frame), which may require the use of extension brackets or spacer blocks for proper clearance. French doors are distinguishable because both sides open as opposed to only one. Also note that in most cases a "cut-out" for your French Door window treatment will be required to clear the door handle or knob.

Along with the distinctive style and superior quality you've come to expect from Hunter Douglas, GREENGUARD certification provides the assurance that their products are as environmentally friendly as they are beautiful for use in your home.

The GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified Mark is a registered certification mark used under license through the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute.

Hard-Wired: Motorized Hunter Douglas window coverings are designed for guaranteed operation and precise control. Window coverings can be controlled via the elegant, contemporary-styled Platinum™ wall-switch with optional Platinum remote or through any home automation system.

The Platinum wall-switch fits standard Decora™ switch plates to blend with a room's décor. Two intermediate stop positions can be set at the wall-switch to meet your needs for privacy, while still allowing natural light into a room. Plus, integrating shade control into a home automation system has never been easier.

In conjunction with a Platinum wall-switch, shades can also be controlled from a Platinum remote control. This is the same remote that is used with Hunter Douglas PowerRise^®, PowerGlide^®, and PowerTilt™ products. Using the Platinum remote, window coverings can be controlled individually or in groups.

Hunter Douglas motorized window fashions can also be seamlessly integrated with any home automation system. Fashion and function are no longer exclusive concepts with Hunter Douglas motorized products.

Hinged panels: Hinged panels, available with each of our Shutter products, are panels that are hinged together and to the window frame. Using T-posts in the center of the opening increases the design possibilities.

Insulation: It's a scientific fact that heat is attracted to cold. In winter months, indoor heating moves toward and escapes through windows to the outdoors, while in summertime, the outside heat flows into your home through these same windows. Many Hunter Douglas window fashions boast high R-values—the measure of a product's ability to resist heat flow—helping reduce energy consumption, save on heating and cooling costs, and creating a more comfortable room setting.

Lantana™ Hidden Gear System: Lantana™ offered with Palm Beach™ polysatin shutters, is a patented gear-driven system for one-touch control and an unobstructed view. This system completely eliminates the traditional tilt bar.

LiteRise®: The LiteRise^® cordless system makes raising and lowering blinds and shades easier than ever. Simply push up to raise and pull down to lower. Your blinds and shades stay right where you put them.

No lift cords for a clean, uncluttered look.
Proprietary design holds blinds and shades securely in any position - no constant adjusting, making it easy to raise your blinds or shades to an even height.
Elimination of lift cords means increased safety for children and pets.
Top-Down/Bottom-Up and Duolite™ options are available on Duette^® and Applause^® with LiteRise, a great solution for bedrooms and bathrooms, even media rooms where both light control and privacy are required.

Select Duette^® and Applause^® honeycomb shades fabrics offer the added benefit of the LiteRise^® TrimKit option. Benefits include:
Creates an insulating barrier by sealing the gap between the shade and window frame, thereby reducing drafts.
The perfect solution to block out light at the shade's edges for a full room-darkening effect with opaque fabrics.

Louvers: Horizontal, parallel slats.

MagnaView™: This patented designed product combines exclusive tilt operation with traditional Hunter Douglas quality. Tilted closed, it looks like a traditional blind; tilted open, it reveals twice the view of an ordinary horizontal blind, at the same time increasing incoming light.

Opaque: Impenetrable to light. Not transparent.

Orientation/Window Shape: Hunter Douglas window fashions come in horizontal and/or vertical orientations. Windows that are taller than they are wide and raise and lower are often better suited for horizontal window coverings, while windows that are wider than they are tall and slide from side to side are often better suited for vertical window coverings.

Palmetto™, found on Palm Beach™ polysatin shutters, offers a traditional shutter style with a tilt bar that can be placed on the front or back of the panels.

Patio and Sliding Glass Doors: While virtually any Hunter Douglas window fashion can be ordered to cover a traditional patio or sliding glass door, certain products—Luminette^® Privacy Sheers, Duette^® and Applause^® with Vertiglide™, and vertical blinds—are better suited to large expanses of glass simply because they traverse horizontally, making them easier to operate in these types of applications. Products that raise and lower—wood blinds, metal blinds or woven woods, for example—can be heavy and comparatively difficult to lift.

PermAssure^®:The Vertical blinds outfitted with the PermAssure^® wand eliminate looped pull cords completely, replacing them with a wand that remains safely out of a child's reach.

PermaTilt^®: This wand control system, featured on our Vertical Blinds, combines both tilt and traverse functions in one easy-to-use control, providing a safer environment for children and pets by completely eliminating the standard chain and cord.

PowerGlide 2.0® with Platinum™ Technology: This proprietary motorized lifting system combines both line-of-sight (using infrared technology) and "out-of-sight" control (using radio frequency technology) of your Hunter Douglas window coverings.

The PowerGlide^® 2.0 motorized lifting system allows you to open and close the sheers and rotate the fabric vanes of your Luminette^® Privacy Sheers or Alustra^® Luminette Privacy Sheers. To use the 'point and press' method, simply point the remote at the satellite eye and press the UP or DOWN button. Or select a group (or groups) of window coverings to move together, even in multiple rooms. Simple wiring of the included parts is required at installation.

PowerRise 2.0 with Platinum Technology: This proprietary motorized lifting system for window shades and shadings combines both line-of-sight (using infrared technology) and "out-of-sight" control (using radio frequency technology) of your window coverings. To raise or lower individual window treatments, simply point the remote at the receiver eye (either built into the headrail or on a satellite eye) and press the UP or DOWN button to operate the window covering. Or select a group (or groups) of window coverings to move together, even in multiple rooms.

Now available with the Top-Down/Bottom-Up and Duolite™ design options, providing:

PowerTilt™ with Platinum™ Technology: This proprietary motorized lifting system combines both line-of-sight (using infrared technology) and "out-of-sight" control (using radio frequency technology) of your Hunter Douglas window coverings.

The PowerTilt™ battery-powered system easily tilts slats open or closed. To use the 'point and press' method, simply point the remote at the satellite eye and press the UP or DOWN button to tilt the slats. Or select a group (or groups) of window coverings to tilt together, even in multiple rooms. The perfect solution for outfitting your home with motorized window blinds.

Privacy & Light Control: Hunter Douglas window fashions are available in a wide array of materials and colors in a range of opacities from sheer to opaque that offer varying degrees of privacy and light control options. Our sheers and other select styles are also specially designed to diffuse and draw light deeper into the room and illuminate your home the natural way while reducing the need for artificial (or electrical) lighting.

We measure privacy and light control on a scale from 1 to 5:
1. The first icon (rating 1) represents a sheer fabric or material that allows light to enter your room while reducing glare and softly focusing the view to the outside.

2. The second icon (rating 2) represents a fabric or material that diffuses light for a soft, screened view with moderate privacy.

3. The middle icon (rating 3) represents a fabric or material that transmits filtered light with no view through it, providing more privacy.

4. The fourth icon (rating 4) represents a fabric or material that filters more light, blocks the view and provides even more privacy.

5. The final icon (rating 5) represents a fabric or material that blocks virtually all light and provides the highest degrees of privacy and light control.

Sheer: Transparently thin.

Simplicity Skylights: Hunter Douglas skylight window coverings (including skylight window treatments for honeycomb shades, pleated shades and shutters) provide rooms with a brighter, more open and airy feeling often not possible with standard windows. However, skylights also have the potential to allow sunlight in that can often overheat your rooms

Our Simplicity™ skylight system, available on our Duette^® and Applause^® honeycomb shades, is a manual lifting system specifically manufactured for rectangular windows and especially suited for skylights.

For greater control of overhead sun, this skylight system brings the light diffusion and energy efficiency benefits of honeycomb shades to skylight openings.
Greater light diffusion means you'll experience less glare on television and computer screens.
Side-by-side mounting of shades allows for coverage of windows measuring more than 48 square feet.

SoftGlide: The SoftGlide^® system, featured on Alustra Woven Textures^®, Designer Screen Roman Shades and Brilliance^® pleated shades is a clutch-operated, continuous cord system ideally suited for large windows and other difficult-to-lift applications.

Soil and Dust Resistant: Soil and dust resistant Hunter Douglas window fashions require minimal cleaning, as they have been treated with proprietary processes to ensure they optimally repel dust, soil and stains. Regular dusting and periodic vacuuming is all that's required to keep them looking like new.

Solar Heat Control: The warmth provided by the sun, its solar energy, may be desirable during the winter to help heat your home, yet it can make a room overly hot and uncomfortable while driving up air conditioning costs in the summer. Many Hunter Douglas products are designed to reduce the amount of solar heat that passes through the window, which is known as the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC). The lower the SHGC, the more protected your home is from the sun's heat. To enjoy the sun's warmth when desired, simply raise or open the window fashion and invite it in.

Sound Absorption: All Hunter Douglas window fashions absorb sounds, improving your room's acoustics. If the sound is coming from outside your room, their products also reduce the intensity of those unwanted noises (double-glazed windows also help considerably). The rating of Good to Excellent to Superior for this product will partly depend on the fabrics and product features you choose and whether your window treatment is open, closed, raised or lowered.

Tilt-Bar Systems: The standard operating system on most of our Shutter products, tilt-bar systems from Hunter Douglas offer exceptional style and provide options that suite your needs.

TruView™ rear tilt shutters, found on Heritance^® hardwood shutters, NewStyle^® hybrid shutters and Palm Beach™ polysatin shutters, offer a discreet operating system that is barely visible from the front of the product and integrates discreetly into the back of the shutter. To operate, simply tilt one louver to the desired position, and the rest will follow. The TruView rear tilt operating system offers a sleek contemporary look, expansive views, easy cleaning and enhanced child and pet safety.
Palmetto™, found on Palm Beach™ polysatin shutters, offers a traditional shutter style with a tilt bar that can be placed on the front or back of the panels.

Tilt-only, Full Tilt and Traverse:

Tilt-Only
Available with the PermAlign^® and PermaTrak^® Headrails to provide motorized vane rotation for window blinds. Two vertical blind motorization options include an infrared remote control unit, or a table or wall mountable switch unit.

Vane rotation can be stopped at any point
Simple installation requires no special wiring
Low-voltage provides added safety.

Full Tilt and Traverse
Full tilt and traverse motorization for vertical blinds is available with switch control, remote control or a combination of both. The full tilt and traverse system is available with the Specialty Systems headrail.

Tilt-Only Low-Profile System: The Tilt-Only Low-Profile hardware system is 60 percent smaller than the standard Tilt-Only system when tilted closed. The sleeker system fits perfectly with French doors and sidelights, allowing you to open French doors more easily, without a headrail hitting the wall.

Available in 2" and 3" vane sizes.
Can be ordered in widths up to 30" and heights up to 96".
The optional tilt wand removes all lifting system cords for added safety in homes with children and pets

Tilt-Only Sidelights: Luminette^® Privacy Sheers are ideal for sidelight and accent window applications. The perfect solution for those narrow, hard-to-cover windows.

Sheers in widths from 8" to 11 7/8" will operate as tilt-only and not traverse
Available in the 3 1/2" vane size, in six fabric styles, and with translucent or room-darkening vanes
Enhances child and pet safety

Top-Down/Bottom-Up: The ultimate in versatility, Hunter Douglas top-down/bottom-up window shades and shadings offer you the ability to operate window treatments (including Roman Shades, cellular shades, pleated shades, woven wood shades and honeycomb shades) from the top down or the bottom up to meet all your privacy needs while still giving you access to natural light.

Top-down/bottom-up Silhouette^® window shadings offer the added bonus of TiltAnywhere™, allowing you to tilt the vanes with the shading in any position.

Traditional Chain and Cord: The Traditional chain and cord system is found on all of our Vertical blind products. This classic system provides smooth operation and superior light control.

Translucent: Permitting light to pass through but diffusing it so that objects on the other side are not completely visible.

Trapezoids: Trapezoidal, or tapered side, windows come in many different configurations and angles. These windows consist of four sides with only one pair of parallel sides. Look to Duette^® and Applause^® honeycomb shades, Brilliance^® pleated shades or the Country Woods^® collection to solve your needs in covering your trapezoidal-shaped windows.

Traveling Wand™ system: This system, found on our Luminette^® and Alustra^® Luminette Privacy Sheers, offers a single wand control that both traverses the sheer and rotates the vanes.

Ultraviolet protection: Just as sunscreen protects our skin from the sun's damaging ultraviolet (UV) rays, window treatments protect our room interiors and add to the lifespan of valuable possessions. Virtually every Hunter Douglas product filters out at least 75% of the sun's harmful UV rays when installed over double-glazed glass windows. Many HunterDouglas products provide even greater protection, up to 99%, when fully lowered and with slats, vanes, or louvers in the fully closed position. The rating of Good to Excellent to Superior for this product will partly depend on the fabrics and product features you choose and whether your window covering is opened, closed, raised or lowered.

Uniform Exterior Appearance: Window fashions offering "uniform exterior appearance" have a consistent neutral look when viewed from the outside of the home.

Vertiglide™: Hunter Douglas now offers two Vertiglide™ options. The vertical pleat system featured on our Duette^®, Duette^® Architella and Applause^® honeycomb shades and the vertical fold system featured on our Vignette^® Traversed™ with Vertiglide shades, both ideal choices for side-to-side openings, sliding glass doors or as a room divider.

No cords, chains, or wands to get in the way of children, making these vertical window treatments the perfect choice for enhanced safety at the window.
Multiple stacking options allow you to choose the look and function that is best for you.

Vignette Traversed with Vertiglide shades combine the beauty of Vignette Traditional™ shades with the convenience and easy operation of a vertical window covering.
